Frequently Asked Questions: New Patients

What should I expect during my first chiropractic appointment?

Your first visit at The Winchester Institute is designed to help us understand your health concerns and determine the best course of care. During your new patient appointment, we'll review your health history, discuss your symptoms, perform a comprehensive examination, and determine whether additional testing, such as digital X-rays, is appropriate. We'll explain our findings, answer your questions, and recommend a personalized treatment plan based on your individual needs.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. In most cases, you do not need a physician referral to schedule an appointment with our chiropractors. Whether you're experiencing back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain, or simply want to improve your overall health, you can contact our office directly to schedule your first visit.

Are you accepting new chiropractic patients?

Yes! The Winchester Institute is accepting new patients from Dublin, Columbus, Hilliard, Powell, Worthington, Plain City, Lewis Center, Westerville, Marysville, and surrounding Central Ohio communities. We welcome patients of all ages and strive to make your first visit comfortable, informative, and stress-free.

How long does a new patient appointment take?

Most new patient appointments take approximately 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your condition and the services needed. This allows plenty of time for your consultation, examination, any necessary imaging, and a discussion of your personalized treatment recommendations.

Will I receive treatment during my first visit?

In many cases, yes. If your examination indicates that chiropractic care is appropriate and it is safe to begin treatment, your doctor may perform your first adjustment during the same visit. If additional testing or imaging is needed first, we'll explain the next steps before beginning care.

Should I complete my new patient paperwork before my appointment?

Yes. Completing your new patient forms before your appointment helps reduce wait time and allows your provider to review your health history before you arrive. If you're unable to complete the paperwork ahead of time, we recommend arriving a few minutes early so our team can assist you.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

To help us provide the best care possible, please bring:

A valid photo ID

Your insurance card (if applicable)

Any recent X-rays, MRI reports, or imaging studies related to your condition

A list of current medications or supplements

Completed new patient paperwork, if you've filled it out in advance

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We participate with many insurance plans and our team is happy to verify your benefits before your appointment. If you're paying without insurance, we also offer affordable self-pay options and will explain all costs before treatment begins.

Can I schedule a complimentary consultation before becoming a patient?

Absolutely. If you're unsure whether chiropractic care is right for you, we offer complimentary consultations. This is an opportunity to meet one of our providers, discuss your concerns, tour our office, and learn about your treatment options before scheduling a comprehensive new patient examination.

What conditions do you commonly treat?

Our team helps patients experiencing a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including:

Back pain

Neck pain

Sciatica

Headaches and migraines

Shoulder pain

Hip pain

Knee pain

Sports injuries

Work-related injuries

Poor posture

Pregnancy-related discomfort

General joint stiffness and mobility issues

Because every patient is different, your care plan is customized to your diagnosis, goals, and lifestyle.

What makes The Winchester Institute different from other chiropractic offices?

Since 2005, The Winchester Institute has provided comprehensive, patient-centered care to the Central Ohio community. Rather than focusing on chiropractic adjustments alone, our multidisciplinary team offers chiropractic care, physical rehabilitation, massage therapy, dry needling, cold laser therapy, nutrition and wellness coaching, and other conservative treatments—all under one roof. This integrated approach allows us to create personalized treatment plans focused on long-term health, recovery, and prevention.

How soon can I schedule my first appointment?

Our team works hard to accommodate new patients as quickly as possible. Appointment availability varies, but we often have openings within 1-2 days. Contact our office, and we'll help you find the earliest appointment that fits your schedule.
